The School of Design is the only one to offer a bachelor's degree in industrial design in Quebec. Studying there is an exciting and enriching experience that combines theoretical and practical aspects through a wide range of courses and workshops.

During their training, students are called upon to carry out various projects, generally in partnership with industry or with public and private organizations. These projects, combined with theoretical lessons, are an opportunity to acquire a culture of design and a methodology for creating, researching and developing technical objects and complex systems; they will also allow students to become familiar with current issues in design.

The courses and workshops in the bachelor's degree in industrial design make students aware as much of the technical aspects of materials and their transformation in compliance with the rules of sustainable development, as of human factors such as ergonomics, psychometrics and semiotics, which are systematically taken into account in each of the design projects.

Undergraduate studies in industrial design culminate in the fourth year with the completion of the final project in collaboration with an external partner who provides the project with a very real intervention context.

Over the course of their studies, the student and future professional will have acquired knowledge and skills in the areas that constitute the heart of industrial design, in particular:

  • the materials,
  • human factors,
  • new technologies,
  • industrial ecology,
  • infographics and communication,
  • design history.
