This programme is designed to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of company law and corporate governance. Students will research and analyse various aspects of law and regulation of both corporate activities and the relationships between business actors and their shareholders and stakeholders. Students will examine a wide range of issues that focus on the legal, regulatory, policy and practice responses to corporations' actions. Core theoretical debates will be explored alongside relevant international and national laws and the contexts in which they operate. The programme consists of two parts. In the first part, you will select four units from a wide range of specialist options of relevance to corporations. These may include: Global Perspectives on Corporate Governance and Corporate Governance in the UK and the US. Alternatively, students may find other options of interest, such as human rights law, labour law or international law. In the second part of the programme each student will write a dissertation of 12,000 words on a subject of your choice under the supervision of our staff. Each student will receive assistance in crafting their research and writing by a company lawyer who is actively researching in the fields of company law or corporate governance.
