The European Union has never been more topical; we offer units that explore the hotly contested legal issues surrounding the free movement of goods and people within Europe, and the creation and enforcement of standards (for example, in competition and environmental law). In the first part of the programme, students will choose four units from a list of European legal studies options, or three units from the list and a further unit from any of the other specialist LLM programmes, or two units from the list and two from the LLM in International Law. Assessment is by examination and/or essay. In the spring term, each student will choose a dissertation topic from the field of European legal studies for approval by the Law School. After passing part one of the programme, one will start work on his/her dissertation for submission by September. Students must pass both parts to obtain an LLM and may not proceed to part two until they have passed part one.
