This degree will help you to think critically and creatively about business and management. Students will gain an understanding of how organisations and managers operate in a global environment. You will also develop analytical, problem-solving and people skills that are sought by all employers. This course includes real industry case studies to help students apply theory to practice.
You will learn about management practice in the global business environment, as well as finance and marketing. Our wide range of optional units allows you to customise your degree to your interests and career ambitions. Options include areas such as strategy, business law and human resource management.
In your first year you will study international business, accounting, finance, marketing, mathematics and statistics. This will give you a solid foundation to build on, whichever aspect of business or management you choose to focus on later.
During your second year we will help you to develop an understanding of research design, data collection and data analysis. This includes analysis of survey data, interviews and observation in organisations. This will prepare you for your final year dissertation, where you can focus on a topic of your choosing.
During your second and final years you will take other core and optional units to suit your interests. By tailoring your options, you can choose to graduate with a specialist pathway, helping to demonstrate your knowledge in specific areas. You do not apply for a pathway at the start of the course but can decide in the second year of study, giving you time to discover your passion. Pathways are:
  • BSc Business and Management (Decision Science)
  • BSc Business and Management (Financial Management)
  • BSc Business and Management (Management Consulting)
  • BSc Business and Management (Governance)
  • BSc Business and Management (Digital Business)
  • BSc Business and Management (Human Resource Management and Work Futures)
Students who do not opt for pathway specialism can graduate with a generalist BSc Business and Management degree.
