Biomedical engineering is a multi-disciplinary field which prepares engineers to enable unmet medical demands through design of Medical Devices. The Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act. (FD&C Act) defines a device as an instrument, apparatus, implement, machine, contrivance, implant, in vitro reagent, and the like. Biomedical Devices help in mechanical processes like movement such as prosthetics, or implants which replace a part of an organ, electronic devices which can be used in diagnostics or simply software such as those for improved imaging.
This program provides undergraduates a sound background in the multi-disciplinary field of Biomedical Engineering with components from Health Science, Engineering, Computer Science and Design. The course nurtures engineers with problem solving ability in areas of health science.
Rigorous project work and internship with GE Healthcare are part of the curriculum to give experiential learning to the students. The program is suitably designed and benchmarked against universities like Harvard and Stanford, which are pioneers in the field.
