Students will study advanced courses in applied mathematics and complete a major industrial, scientific or commercial project. Topics covered may include simulation theory and application, advanced complex analysis, nonlinear programming, discrete optimization, applied functional analysis, numerical linear algebra, an introduction to partial differential equations, computational biology, stochastic calculus, advanced operations research, and optimal control. With an honors degree in applied science, students may proceed to postgraduate degrees by coursework or research. Students could consider continuing with a PhD to further their knowledge and research skills and also planning a career in environmental modelling, defense research, or statistical analysis and optimization.
