UWS MSc Applied Social Science is a framework of awards and offers students applied social science training either in a generic nature or in a number of specialisms: MSc Applied Social Science ; MSc Applied Social Science (Civil Society & Public Affairs); MSc Applied Social Science (Criminal Justice & Community Practice); MSc Applied Social Science (Global Social Work & Social Policy). This Master's framework is focused on preparing students to make a difference in the policy community. They are underpinned by cutting edge research, informed by a global perspective and designed to connect students with policy-makers and influencers. This programme is suitable for those who want to pursue careers in NGOs, campaign groups, public agencies, third sector organisations, etc. Students will undertake three core 20-credit taught modules which provide a common and solid foundation for specialist study in any of the three programme pathways as well as being core to the generic pathway. Following this, students will undertake another three taught modules relevant to their pathway specialism or any three modules according to their interests and aspirations for the generic pathway. Finally, student can then undertake an extended research project to complete the MSc.
