This master's program focuses on the animal species horse. As a veterinary student (assistant) you will work for a large part of the program in the animal hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, both in the equine clinic and at the outpatient clinic for horses to provide care at home, and at external veterinary practices. You are mainly involved in examining and treating the sick horse and you communicate frequently with the patient owners.
This master's program is part of the master's program in Veterinary Medicine, you will be trained as a general veterinarian.
Theory and practice
An important principle of the Horse Health Master's program is the integration of theory and practice. During the first year, the theory is treated in seven theory blocks in the afternoon and you apply the theory in the morning as you walk along with the different clinical disciplines.
During the clinical education you will become acquainted with all aspects of equine medicine, including the supporting disciplines in the stable and in the outpatient clinic, with the forge, sterilization and of course with the clinics themselves: internal diseases, surgery and reproduction. You also participate in evening, night and weekend shifts. You are part of a student team.
