Education and research cannot be isolated from practical life. We believe in sharing knowledge with the wider community to which we belong. We have established research cooperation and teaching affiliations with the international, regional, local industries and institutions.Our faculties provide extensive education and research within different fields:School of Business and Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences offers programmes at Bachelor’s and Master’s level from various disciplines within Business, Law and Social Sciences. The faculty is especially strong in research on Marketing Management. A PhD programme in this field has newly been accredited.Faculty of Education and Humanities provides basic training for pre-school, primary and secondary school teachers as well as Bachelor’s, Master’s and a range of postgraduate programmes in Education. The faculty is strong on research focusing on human rights, democracy and education in the multicultural society. The faculty also offers a PhD programme in Pedagogical Resources and Learning Processes in Pre-School.Faculty of Technology and Maritime Sciences provides programmes in all three cycles; from Bachelor’s to Master’s and a PhD. The programmes are focusing on Micro and Nano Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer and Systems Engineering, as well as Maritime Sciences. Research is especially strong in Micro and Nano Systems, as well as Systems Engineering.Faculty of Health Sciences focuses on Nursing as well as Radiography and Optometry – offering programmes at Bachelor’s and Master’s level, as well as an extensive portfolio of postgraduate courses. Health care for elderly people, Health Technology and Mental Health consist of the most significant research fields, which also includes a new PhD in person-centred healthcare-programme.
