Students may specialize in literature or linguistics, or propose a research program combining both fields. Students have the possibility of holding Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships. Our students have access, in addition to all the libraries of UBC, to a Reading Room with a collection of several thousand books, as well as computers. A Graduate Forum, organized by students in conjunction with faculty members, is held once a month. Every year a symposium is held at which students present their research to the department.
