Top universities for hospitality & leisure management in the US & Canada
The United States leads the way of this first-ever ranking of hospitality & leisure management courses and maintains a healthy presence right the way down the list. As well as the four universities in the top 10, nine other US institutions are listed. Only two Canadian universities make the top 50: the University of Waterloo (13th) and the University of Alberta (=45th).
Top universities for hospitality & leisure management in Europe
Only four European countries are represented in this year’s rankings. Switzerland and the United Kingdom dominate with seven universities each on the list. The highest-ranked outside of the top 10 are the Hotel and Tourism Management Institute, Switzerland and Bournemouth University, which are ranked 15th and 16th respectively.
Top universities for hospitality & leisure management in Asia
10 Asian universities feature in the top 50 for hospitality & leisure management, four of which are based in South Korea. The highest-ranked of these is Sejong University (26th). Hong Kong and Malaysia are the next best-represented with two universities on the list each. As well as the third-placed Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong is also represented by joint 38th place Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Malaysia’s two representatives are both right in the middle of this year’s ranking: Taylor’s University is ranked 29th and the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is joint 32nd.
China and Singapore have one university each on the list. Respectively, they are the Institute for Tourism Studies, ranked 18th, and the Nanyang Technological Institute (NTU), ranked 25th.
Top universities for hospitality & leisure management in Australia & New Zealand
Six universities from Australia feature in the hospitality & leisure management ranking, including Griffith University in the top 10. The University of Queensland (UQ) is the only other Australian university in the top 20. New Zealand is represented three times in the ranking, with the University of Waikato earning the title of best in the country thanks to their 24th place finish.
