Brand new this year, the index contains of 46 of the world’s best institutions for master’s in supply chain management degrees, based on a methodology which assesses each institution’s employability, alumni outcomes, value for money, thought leadership and diversity, with data collected from a global survey of employers and other sources.

Starting off our roundup of the best universities to study supply chain management, in 10th place this year is UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School with its yearlong MSc Supply Chain Management course. It offers academic grounding in the concepts and practices of supply chain management taught with the expertise of professionals in the field.
The course earns its best score in the employability indicator, with 96 percent of the course’s graduates employed after six months. It also performed well for the diversity indicator, with 77 percent of students coming from outside the UK.
9. University of Washington Foster School of Business -Master of Supply Chain Management
Location: Seattle, Washington, US
The University of Washington’s Foster School of Business ranks ninth this year for its Master of Supply Chain Management. The course combines supply chain concepts like strategic sourcing and channel management with data analytics, cross-functional business knowledge and hands on industry experience.
The course earns its highest score in the employability indicator. Foster’s EY Center for Career Advancement offers career management services to Master of Supply Chain students, including networking opportunities, counselling, portfolio and resume feedback and career events.
8. Purdue University Krannert School of Management - MS Global Supply Chain Management
Location: West Lafayette, Indiana, US
In eighth place in the Master’s in Supply Chain Management rankings this year is Purdue University Krannert School of Business. Its MS Global Supply Chain Management course performs well in the value for money indicator and the alumni outcomes indicator. The Krannert Professional Development Center (KPDC) helps to cultivate skills and strategies to improve students’ employability.
The course develops students’ skills in operations, supply chain management and business analytics to prepare them for a career managing global supply chains.
7. Politecnico di Milano - MS Global Supply Chain Management
Location: Milan, Italy
With excellent scores for employability and value for money is Politecnico di Milano. Its MS Global Supply Chain management course ranks seventh in the Master’s in Supply Chain Management rankings this year.
The 12-month program focuses on relevant areas of supply chain management such as supply chain big data and analytics, technology, innovation and sustainability. The course is taught entirely in English and is aimed at students with less than three years work experience.
6. USC Marshall School of Business - Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management
Location: Los Angeles, US
Heading to California, and next in our look at the top universities for master’s in supply chain management, USC Marshall School of Business ranks sixth worldwide this year.
Its Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management program is a joint program offered by the USC Marshall School of Business and the Viterbi School of Engineering. The course is flexibly designed around your academic and professional goals and can now be completed either on campus or online.
5. Alliance Manchester Business School - MSc Operations, Projects & Supply Chain Management
Location: Manchester, UK
Ranked eighth for its MSc Operations, Projects & Supply Chain Management degree, the University of Manchester’s Alliance Manchester Business School operates on the phrase ‘Original Thinking Applied’ and was one of the UK’s first business schools, established in 1956.
Its MSc Operations, Projects & Supply Chain Management degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and after three years’ work experience, students can apply to become full members of CIPS. Alliance Manchester receives high scores for thought leadership and diversity, with students graduating with the analytical skills and knowledge ideal for a large variety of careers.
4. Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) - Master of Science in Supply Chain Management
Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands
In fourth place this year for its Master of Science in Supply Chain Management is Rotterdam School of Management’s Erasmus University (RSM).
The course scores particularly well for both thought leadership and employability, with 99 percent of its students employed within three months of graduation, with most graduates working in roles such as operations manager, procurement manager and production planner. The course also organizes its own industry-specific career fair every November and RSM offers a range of career events and services throughout the year.
3. WU Vienna University of Economics and Business - Master of Science in Supply Chain Management
Location: Vienna, Austria
WU Vienna University of Economics and Business comes third this year in the index of the top universities to study a master’s in supply chain management. The school’s Master of Science in Supply Chain Management aims to help students gain a deeper understanding of supply chain related decision problems from a performance perspective.
The course scores particularly well for employability and alumni outcomes and 97 percent of its graduates are in work six months after graduation. The course also attracts many international students. The class of 2019 was made up of 65 percent international students from 17 different countries.
2. Michigan Ross - Master in Supply Chain Management
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States
With near-perfect scores in the employability, alumni outcomes and value for money indicators, Michigan Ross’ Master in Supply Chain Management course in Michigan ranks an impressive second place this year.
The course is a 10-month STEM-certified program for graduates with up to 10 years of work experience. It offers real-world supply chain insight, using the school’s extensive industry connections. The course’s graduates can expect to earn an average starting salary of US$60,000-$130,000.
1. MIT’s Center for Transportation and Logistics - Master in Global Supply Chain Management
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, US
The top school to study a master’s in supply chain management this year is MIT’s Center for Transportation and Logistics. In the school’s Master in Global Supply Management course, students will get to work directly with researchers and industry experts on a range of complex problems in all aspects of supply chain management.
Students are taught how to engage in an international, highly competitive marketplace. They learn practical analytical problem solving, leadership and communication amongst other skills and work closely with MIT’s partner companies to solve real-world business challenges.
