The latest QS World University Rankings includes over 30 universities from Spain, a testament to the European country’s strength as a study destination for students from around the world.

Three of these institutions were making their debut in the rankings, thanks to consistent year-on-year growth in reputation and performance.

If you’re looking for a university that’s on the rise and at the cutting-edge of higher education in Spain and Western Europe, any of these three universities would be a fantastic place to start.

UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia

UCAM is recognised as one of Europe’s leaders in Sports Sciences, with a track record that speaks for itself: over 200 Olympic athletes have studied here since 2016, racking up more than 100 medals!

UCAM’s High-Performance Sports Centre (CIARD) and Dual Career programme are benchmarks for elite athlete development, but there’s also more to UCAM than just sport as its performance in the QS World University Rankings makes clear.

UCAM combines academic excellence with real-world impact. Its cutting-edge innovation hub, UCAM HiTech, drives research in health, sport, sustainability and digital transformation – and even helps launch start-ups. So, whether you’re into science, tech or entrepreneurship, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to shine.

What really sets UCAM apart is its personalised approach. Small classes, dedicated tutors and strong links to industry mean you’re building a career while you study. With partnerships in over 50 countries, UCAM offers global mobility and internships that open doors worldwide.

UCAM is also the only Spanish university with consultative status at the UN ECOSOC, and its students actively engage in volunteering and sustainability projects.

Plus, with a vibrant international campus and students from 130+ countries, you’ll feel part of a truly global family.

Universidad Europea

The highest-ranked of these three universities, Universidad Europea offers over 300 degrees across health sciences, social sciences, STEAM, design and sports, with flexible on-campus and online options.

Its Hyflex Experiential Learning model blends top faculty, cutting-edge facilities and real-world simulations, so you’re not just learning theory – you’re living it.

From day one, you’ll be connected to the professional world, while the university’s state-of-the-art labs and smart classrooms mean your educational experience is rife with innovation.

Studying here also means you’ll join a diverse community of 20,000 students and 110,000 alumni from over 100 nationalities. In the QS World University Rankings, Universidad Europea achieves its strongest scores for the ratio of international students and the diversity of its student body.

Universitat Jaume I

Located in Castelló, Universitat Jaume I (UJI) is the only public university in the province and has played a key role in transforming the city into a vibrant, modern university hub. Since its founding in 1991, UJI has focused on driving social, economic and cultural progress through education and research.

With around 13,000 students, UJI offers over 30 undergraduate degrees, and over 40 official master’s programmes, as well as a range of specialisation courses – all delivered on a single, spacious campus with green areas and excellent sports facilities.

UJI is also a research-active institution, involved in numerous R&D projects and innovation partnerships. In short, it’s a university that combines academic quality, a welcoming environment and a strong commitment to community development.

Sustainability is also a key focus at UJI, and this is reflected in the university’s strong score for sustainability in the QS World University Rankings.
