The robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) fuelled by the rise in computer processing power, the profusion of data, and the development of techniques such a ‘deep learning’ is undergoing a major transformation. This course combines the fields of robotics and AI to offer students conceptual grounding in intelligent systems, and the chance to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. The foundation year can be a real attribute to students’ overall degree success and will provide a sound base on which to establish a successful academic career. During the foundation year students will undertake core modules in Mathematics, computer science, communication skills, and choices from a range of subject areas including Physics, mechanical technologies, and electrical technologies.
