This course is run in partnership with Birmingham Metropolitan College and is validated by the University of Wolverhampton. Podiatry is a healthcare profession concerned with the assessment, diagnosis and management of the foot and lower limb. The course therefore focuses on physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and pathology. This Podiatry course is particularly ideal for those wishing to work both within the National Health Service and as an independent practitioner. Students must be able to work as a team and make complex clinical judgements with a good understanding of working within a health care team. Podiatry graduates will be eligible to apply for membership of the professional body, known the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. Graduates will also be eligible to apply to join the register regulated by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). Only through being a registrant within this regulatory framework, will one be allowed to use the protected titles ‘Chiropodist’/’Podiatrist, which opens doors to employment within both the NHS and private sectors as a Chiropodist/Podiatrist. As an HCPC registrant graduates will be required to maintain their skills by demonstrating regular Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
