About IMT Atlantique

IMT Atlantique is one of the top French graduate engineering schools, and a member of IMT Institut Mines-Télécom – the number one group of public engineering and management higher education institutions in France. It was founded in 2017 as a merger institution of Mines Nantes and Télécom Bretagne and aims to attract a new generation of engineers who want to grow and develop their skillset in a new and innovative way. Teaching at IMT Atlantique combines digital, energy and environmental technologies and uses interdisciplinary, pioneering teaching methods to ensure that students have a wide range of knowledge and, after graduating, can use engineering to identify and solve the problems the world faces in modern society.

IMT Atlantique has three campuses – in Nantes, Brest and Rennes. Nantes is a large city in the north-west of France. It is 50km from the coast but contains a seaport from the Loire estuary and less than a four-hour drive away from the capital city of Paris. It is well known for both its sweeping countryside and vineyards and its cities which are rich in traditional architecture as well as contemporary artistic styles. There are many museums and art galleries to explore around the city. Nantes is also very well known for its food culture, particularly its meat and produce, which often supplies some of the most famous bistros in Paris. There are plenty of local restaurants offering a range of local and international cuisines for students to enjoy.

Sustainability at IMT Atlantique

IMT Atlantique has made sustainability a strategic priority, adopting a policy of limiting human environmental impact and helping society adapt to climate change. It focuses on four key areas: mitigating climate change, preserving natural resources, inventing sustainable production/consumption modes, and building a resilient world.

Getting to the heart of major issues like biodiversity and climate change, IMT focuses its efforts on high-impact actions, equipping students with robust scientific skills to drive ecological and social progress.

IMT Atlantique offer four different scholarships:

  • The Excellence Scholarship – students with the most impressive applications are given a 50% tuition fee discount when applying to an MSc programme. No additional application is needed, the students will be informed if they have received the scholarship by the university in their offer letter.
  • Partial Tuition Fee Waiver – awarded to students who graduate from a partner university or students who already have EU citizenship.
  • There are also discounts for students who have attended one of the university’s education fairs or have applied before the early-bird deadline.

Outside of the discounts and scholarships that the university offers, many external companies offer scholarships to students, including QS with the ImpACT scholarships. For more information on the scholarships and funding support offered by IMT Atlantique, check their website.
