Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) is more than just a school. Historically based in Grenoble, a city of science and technology and being a recipient of the European Green Capital Award, GEM has developed a strong expertise in technology management and innovation. This seminal focus has allowed the school to broaden its areas of expertise in research and in teaching pertaining to digital media, health, energy, entrepreneurship, sharing economy, and geopolitics.

As a Consular School of Higher Education (EESC) affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Grenoble, GEM is also a founding member of the campus of innovation in Grenoble known as GIANT (Grenoble Innovation for Advanced New Technologies). 

GEM represents an open-ended laboratory known as the “Business Lab for Society”, through which 8,000 students and 500 employees learn and strive each day to respond to both corporate and social challenges.

Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) offers a wide variety of master's programmes, advanced master’s programmes, a competitive international MBA programme, and doctoral programmes taught in English in strategically located campus locations around the world. Students select GEM for its international recognition, its high rankings, and its unique multicultural environment. International companies select GEM graduates for their knowledge, skills, and talent to meet the economic challenges of today and tomorrow. Postgraduate degrees are for students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or have enough experience in the desired field of study.
MSc programmes
The duration of a MSc programme at GEM typically ranges for two years. The first year on campus and second year includes a final management project which can be done remotely while employed. MBA
The GEM MBA is a rigorous 10-month programme conducted in-person and designed to elevate leadership capabilities, equipping students to drive strategic initiatives and lead successful ventures. Throughout the programme, students will engage in real-world consultancy projects, addressing live business challenges from actual clients, receiving invaluable hands-on experience. Students can customise their MBA by choosing one of three specializations tracks;

  • Transformation of Luxury for Digital and Sustainable Age
Additionally, a module spent in another European country offers immersive experiences, including company visits and cultural excursions. While the programme is delivered entirely in English, complimentary French language training and cultural activities are also made available.  Following the completion of coursework, students will have the opportunity to undertake a 3–6-month professional internship to further apply the newfound skills in real-world contexts. Doctoral programmes
As one of the top research-led business schools in Europe, GEM offers two strategic doctoral programmes. 
  • Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) - This is a three-year, part-time, professional doctoral programme aimed at experienced managers who want to bring impact to their organisation and/or society by leveraging academic research to solve concrete organisational problems.
  • PhD in Business Administration- This programme aims to educate scholars who will become faculty members in leading international business schools or universities. It is a four to five-year full-time programme designed to ensure that very early on, students are involved in research and develop a solid publication record during their PhD studies.

University information

The admissions requirements differ based on the programme of individual choice. However, the typical admissions requirements for undergraduate studies typically comprise of the following. 

  • High school diploma, IB diploma, Baccalauréat 
  • High school transcripts  
  • University transcripts (for students planning to enter 2nd or 3rd year of a programme)
  • CV/Resume 
  • Essays and academic references 
  • Scan of passport 
  • English proficiency results (TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge English, Duolingo English Test)

To get enrolled into year one of certain undergraduate programmes, students are required to complete an entrance examination Concours SESAME

When applying for an MSc, MBA or an advanced master’s programme, students are required to complete an online application form and submit scanned copies of all original supporting documents translated to English or French. To enrol, you'll need the same documents required for undergraduate programmes, plus proof of your undergraduate education and evidence of strong quantitative abilities from exams such as the GRE, GMAT, and CFA. The admissions process for certain advanced master’s programmes, could also include an interview stage.

For doctoral programs and PhDs, applicants must submit proof of their postgraduate education and professional experience, along with the standard set of required documents.

Apart from these, an additional admissions requirement for international students would include a valid visa and to verify requirements with their local French consulate.

Semard Campus:

An urban campus in the heart of the Alps - The main Grenoble Ecole de Management campus, situated strategically in the center of Grenoble, capital of the French Alps, is the emblem of the school and of its brand. The campus is also an innovation hub and offers a dedicated space known as “the hall” for events such as company meetings, CSR workshops, festivals, fashion shows and sales.

GEM Labs:

Grenoble Ecole de Management’s second Grenoble campus is in the heart of Grenoble’s scientific peninsula. This campus is home to a unique Lab dedicated to innovation, and offers GEM students, teachers and partners a wonderful place for experimentation, where immersion and experiential learning take center stage. A few of the laboratory facilities available at this campus include;

  • The BIZ Lab which is a simulation and testing platform.
  • Playground which is a platform dedicated to serious games and gamification. 
  • TIM Labs, which is a platform dedicated to collaborative innovation and innovation teams.

Paris Campus:

It has been designed and furnished in accordance with the social and environmental responsibility of the Grenoble school: zero-waste, green surfaces to encourage biodiversity, close to public transport, offering modular and connected spaces, adapted to new teaching methods.

The Paris campus includes:

  • Living on campus

To arrange housing during the academic term, GEM offers students a dedicated platform called “Studapart”, providing a range housing related services including booking assistance, cancellation support, and ongoing help throughout their stay. 

Access to the platform is granted upon receiving the school acceptance letter and students advised to book accommodation well in advance. The monthly budget required for housing typically ranges from €450 to €850 in Grenoble and €900 to €1200 in Paris. Additionally, Campus France student grant-holders have the opportunity to inquire about CROUS accommodation options through Campus France.

  • Health and wellbeing services

GEH’s health & inclusion department provides support services to students relevant to all situations of disability, mental health, physical health and neurodiversity. The department houses a remotely operated psychological support unit which is available 24/7 to the students, and a medical concierge service to help book appointments with GPs and specialists.

Student life

GEM provides its students a very active community life, with over 22 associations and nearly 700 events organised every year. The student office serves as the central hub of all student-led associations at GEM, supporting the vibrant community of the institution. 
  • Sports activities
Associations like Altigliss, The Sports Office – Bureau Des Sports (BDS), and Ici Commence l'Océan (I.C.O) facilitates various sports activities withing GEM. Altigliss organises the GEM Altigliss Challenge, the student ski World Cup each year, the sports office organises key events at GEM, such as the Derby Rhône-Alpes among many others and I.C.O focuses mainly on sailing and water sports. 
For students who are pursuing a career in athletics or sports, GEM provides training courses along with personalised support and adapted training methods, allowing them to continue their education alongside the sports career.

Health & Inclusion department at Grenoble Ecole de Management school takes care of students’ physical and mental wellbeing, offering an array of medical services. Encouraging the students’ entrepreneurial spirits, “IncubaGEM” the institution’s very own incubator provides students with resources and support to thrive in their entrepreneurial ventures.
