Big data serves important purpose in not only business, but also health, education, and government, to make informed decisions. Through this course, students will study areas such as information and data analysis, allowing them to discover and quantify patterns using statistics, statistical inference, regression analysis, and machine learning. Students will be introduced to the appropriate methods and tools that are applied to retrieve, transform, organize, visualise, and analyse data. Students will develop technical knowledge in a range of topics including statistics, statistical inference, high performance computing, and visualization.
