Master of Finance students would benefit from learning more about microeconomics, the functioning of the macro economy, fiscal policy, international trade, industrial organization, and information economics, as these all have direct relevance to understanding the environment in which businesses operate. Similarly, students pursuing an MS in Economics degree would benefit from specific applications of economic principles in the financial world such as asset pricing, corporate finance, investments, fixed income markets, and risk management within financial institutions and corporations. For many positions, companies need professionals who are knowledgeable about financial markets and instruments as well as the economic environment in which the company must operate. This double degree program combines the complementary strengths of the Master of Science in Economics with the Master of Finance. The MSEcon/MFin double degree is a 56 credit-hour program with expected completion within two academic years. The curriculum fulfills the degree requirements of the respective MSEcon and MFin programs.
