The program is aimed at training personnel with engineering skills combined with fundamental education, competent in the use of production technology and operation of materials and components of nanosystems for various functional purposes. Today nanotechnology is one of the leading areas of science and technology, making revolutionary changes in modern technology. The educational program is aimed at training highly qualified personnel with engineering skills in the field of nanotechnology combined with deep theoretical knowledge, competent in the development and application of nanotechnology processes and nanodiagnostic methods, mathematical and computer modeling, design, use and development of production technology and operation of materials and components nano- and microsystem technology for various functional purposes. As part of the direction, specialists are trained for fundamental, applied and technical developments aimed at creating new materials based on nanotechnology. The training will include general education disciplines and special training in the field of nanotechnology, nanomaterials, nanosystem research methods, control of nanotechnological processes, microsystem engineering and technology. The knowledge gained by students in mastering this specialty will find application in all existing industries, since nanotechnology is already implementing a qualitative leap in them associated with the development of nanomaterials science, nanoelectronics and nanoengineering. Graduates of the educational program will be in demand as specialists-nanotechnologists, experts-nanotechnologists, engineers-nanotechnologists in scientific research institutions of the physical and technical profile, at enterprises of the high-tech sector, at enterprises producing control and measuring and diagnostic equipment, in institutions providing certification of materials and products in the public and private sectors. Graduates with fundamental training in the framework of university classical physics education, with a bachelor's degree in nanotechnology, and then a master's degree, are required to fulfill an order for training specialists for Tatenergo, the aircraft and engine building complex of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation, medical instrumental production, chemical and petrochemical complex of the Republic of Tatarstan.The undergraduate program is supported by the resources of the Institute of Physics of the KFU with a focus on the Department of Solid State Physics as the organizing unit. The resources of the educational process of the Institute of Physics and the Chemical Institute named after V.I. Butlerov, the Engineering Institute and the KFU Technology Center. To implement the educational process, there are new research laboratories (Research Laboratory for the Synthesis and Analysis of Thin-Film Systems; Research Laboratory of Technology for the Production and Processing of Functional Nanomaterials; Research Laboratory of Physics of Magnetic Nanostructures and Spintronics; Research Laboratory of Ceramics, etc.). The staff of the department have strong scientific ties with leading scientists and scientific organizations in Europe and America. For young scientists there is an opportunity to practice and internship abroad.

Russia’s Kazan Federal University (KFU) offers a broad selection of bachelor’s programs, including:

    Bachelor’s degree in “Economics. International Business”;

    Specialist degree in “General Medicine” and “Dentistry”;

    Bachelor’s degree in “Petroleum Engineering”;

    And many more fascinating courses

Undergraduate programs at KFU last four years if studying full-time, and usually involve 26 to 30 hours of study time per week.

Admission requirements

To apply for an undergraduate degree at Kazan Federal University, you must:

1. Have completed your secondary education;

2. Prove your Russian language proficiency (minimum TORFL-1);

3. Pass KFU’s entrance exam (a Russian language test, plus tests in two basic subjects relevant to the academic field chosen).

KFU provides courses in Preparatory school for those students who have little or no knowledge of the Russian language before they begin Russian-taught degree programs. Within 10 months of pre-university instruction, students gain the Russian language proficiency that meets the demands of CEFR level B1 or TORFL level 1, study in a chosen academic field (“professional profiles”) and adapt to the new educational environment and routine life. Upon completing Preparatory School, students are expected to be ready to enter the Russian-taught full-degree programs at KFU and other Russian institutions of higher education.

Russia’s Kazan Federal University (KFU) offers a great number of master’s degrees and doctoral programs, including:

    Mathematics;

    Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies (Data Science);

    Petroleum Engineering;

    And many more programs

Master’s degree programs at KFU require two years of full-time study and the duration of PhD programs is 3 years of full-time study.

Admission requirements for master’s degree

To be eligible for a master’s degree program at Kazan Federal University, you must:

1. Have completed a bachelor's degree (or specialist diploma);

2. Prove your Russian language proficiency (minimum TORFL-2) – if the program is taught in Russian;

Full information about available programs can be found here.

Admission requirements for doctoral programs

In Russia the doctoral degree system is two-tier: First doctoral degree (“Candidate of Science in …”) and Second doctoral degree (“Doctor of Science in …”).

Admissions for first doctoral degree:

    Specialist diploma or a master’s degree;Russian language proficiency (min torfl-2).

Studies last 3 years and they prepare students for research and professorial activities. Students must acquire skills in teaching methods and information technology, and pass qualifying exams in foreign language, history of sciences and in specialization. The program includes independent research as well as preparation and public defense of a thesis. After graduation students get diploma of a researcher and after preparation and public defense of the thesis, the candidate is awarded the first doctoral degree (“Candidate of Science”).

Second doctoral degree is an individual program with no fixed duration. It follows the degree “Candidate of Science”. After advanced research, preparation and public defense of the thesis, the candidate is awarded the second doctoral degree (“Doctor of Science”).
