The Bachelor of Arts in music with an emphasis in music industry studies combines general music and business studies with specifically focused topics in the music industry, including music business, music production, audio engineering, and film scoring. Students in the degree program will have the opportunity to learn from active, award-winning music industry faculty and other world-class professionals while actively engaging in a collaborative environment with UTA Records, our world-class recording facility, and talented student body.


The Bachelor of Arts in music with an emphasis in music industry studies is a 120-credit-hour program designed to provide liberal arts music studies in musicianship, performance, and music industry concentrated electives. Entry into the program requires an audition.


Students entering the BA program can expect to gain knowledge in the following areas:


  • Professional musicianship via private lessons
  • Professional music-making via commercial and recording ensembles
  • Modern music business practices
  • Professional recording studio operation
  • Digital audio workstation technology implementation and execution

Successful completion of the degree will prepare UTA Music Industry Studies students for active careers in the modern music industry.
