The University of Wyoming's Chemistry Department offers graduate degrees for students who desire to expand their knowledge beyond the 4 year Bachelor level. The Master's Degree introduces students to the critical thinking necessary to work independently in industrial settings and prepares you for a professional career. Coursework A student must take one three-hour course in each of three of the four areas (inorganic, analytical, organic, and physical), excluding special topics and research courses. These courses must be graduate courses, 5000 and above. A student may also take nine credits of any combination of CHEM 5190, 5290, 5390, 5590, or 5790. One departmental seminar is required on the thesis research.

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited or recognized school is required. A cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on previous coursework is required for full admission (3.25 for interdisciplinary program applicants). Other English Language Requirement: A minimum score of 540 on the written TOEFL exam.
