Excerpt from the speech of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran in a meeting with the president and authorities of Alzahra University: It is my belief, and it always has been, that the Islamic Republic of Iran should truly appreciate Alzahra University and acknowledge its importance. Alzahra University is the embodiment of women’s educational initiative in Iran. This is a unique center, which can manifest the high capacity of the Islamic Republic for educating women with high abilities. Alzahra University focuses on women’s education in Iran. This is an important issue in itself, particularly considering the women-only status of the university. I believe this university needs to be more visibly supported. And on the other hand, you ladies [from Alzahra University] should also aim for the highest levels; don’t be satisfied with anything less. I mean, you need to truly pursue exactly what has been stated in the vision of the university—to become a first-rate world class university for women.
