Imperial is based in South Kensington in London, in an area known as ‘Albertopolis’, Prince Albert and Sir Henry Cole’s 19th century vision for an area where science and the arts would come together. As a result, Imperial’s neighbours include a number of world leading cultural organizations including the Science, Natural History and Victoria and Albert museums; the Royal Colleges of Art and Music; and the Royal Albert Hall, where all of their students also graduate.
There is plenty of green space too, including two Royal Parks (Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens) within 10 minutes’ walk of campus. Travel to and from the area is also really easy as it’s served by three Tube lines and many bus routes.
One of the most distinctive elements of an Imperial education is that students join a community of world-class researchers. The cutting edge and globally influential nature of this research is what Imperial is best known for. Our main South Kensington Campus is a stone’s throw from Hyde Park and world-famous museums including the Science Museum, Natural History Museum and V&A. Most of our teaching happens here and it’s also home to our central library and sports centre, Ethos.
The White City Campus is our hub for innovation. It’s the base for cutting-edge facilities and pioneering research in healthcare, molecular sciences and bioengineering.
There are also our hospital campuses at Hammersmith, St Mary’s, the Royal Brompton, Chelsea and Westminster, Charing Cross and the North London Hospitals.
Just outside London is our Silwood Park Campus, a leading centre for ecology, evolution and conservation.
Our campuses are well-connected to public transport, including by Tube, bus and railway. There’s also a free shuttle bus that runs between our South Kensington, White City and Hammersmith campuses every half hour on weekdays.

Student life
Imperial offers a huge range of student activities, including 380+ student-led clubs, societies and projects. Groups range from a drone society and e-sports to a capella and yoga, as well as a variety of music and theatre groups. It’s also easy to find reminders of home through our cultural societies, including the Arabic, Indian, Italian, Japanese, and Korean societies amongst many others. The International Student Support team also offer a range of activities to help international students make the most of their time in the UK.

We offer a range of scholarships and bursaries tailored to different subject areas, nationalities and personal circumstances – including the Imperial Bursary for Home students which offers up to £5,000 each year to support your living costs and the Imperial Inspires Scholarship offering at least 300 scholarships worth £15,000 per year for international students.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can choose up to five courses. There’s no preference order and your chosen universities/colleges won’t see where else you’ve applied until after you reply to any offers you get. If you're applying to medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or veterinary science, you can only apply to a maximum of four courses in any one of these subjects.
You can only apply once in a cycle and if you've applied in previous cycles and want to apply again, you'll have to submit a new application.

Whether you're applying for a Master's course or a research programme, you must apply online using our application system My Imperial. Once you have created an online account, you can search for the course(s) you want to apply for and start your application.
Our departments have application rounds for their postgraduate taught courses, with fixed application dates throughout the year. Apply by 23.59 (UK time) on the closing date of an application round, to ensure you receive a response on your application by the relevant decision date.
We recommend applying as early as you can – we cannot guarantee that places will be available, or that courses will remain open, in later rounds.
