Being one of the oldest universities of Azerbaijan, Baku Slavic University (BSU) traces its roots back to 1946 when it was first established as the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute named after M.F. Akhundov. A significant milestone was achieved in 2000 when, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, Baku Slavic University came into existence.
Today, BSU proudly offers a diverse array of more than 90 educational programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, spanning across six faculties. The university's programs have expanded to encompass an extensive range of Slavic and European languages, as well as specialized fields such as Regional and Country studies, International Relations, Journalism, Translation, Education and Psychology.
