Founded in 1992, Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) has an extensive range of
faculties, including the faculties of Tourism, Medicine, Education, Science,
Agriculture, Engineering and Health Sciences. The student population of
the university consists of 26,944 undergraduates, 2,923 graduate students, 707
pursuing doctoral degrees, and 616 international students. The university is one of the pioneering
universities in Türkiye especially in the areas of agriculture and stock
raising, tourism, health and energy embracing many scientists found worthy of
prestigious and world famous awards.
The Veterinary Faculty has just been awarded the European
Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) accreditation in
late 2023. Five academicians from various faculties (Tourism, Agriculture and
Science) were included in the list of the world's best scientists by Stanford
University (the United States), and Elsevier. As part of the 100th Anniversary,
a faculty member from the Department of Medical Biology of the Faculty of
Medicine has been given the Young Scientists Award (GEBİP)-2023 within the
scope of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK)
and the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Science Awards. A faculty member
from the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science was awarded the
'Experienced Researcher Scholarship' of the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation,
one of the respected scholarships of the world of science. According to the
results of the Young Scientists Award Program (BAGEP) 2022, another faculty
member from the same department was deemed worthy of the 'Scientist of the Year'
award in the field of Physics. Between the years 2012-2014, a professor from
the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Science was elected the head of the
Nematology Department by the Society of Invertebrate Pathology, being the first
and only Turkish scientist elected to this position. Last but not least, the
university hosts one of the world's two wild bee museums, renowned for housing
the most extensive collection of bee species globally.
