About Deusto Business School - University of Deusto

Deusto Business School was founded in 1916 and provides its students with a practical education so that they have the necessary skills to pursue a career in the world of business after graduating. It is the oldest business school in Spain with campuses in Bilbao, Madrid and San Sebastian in Northern and Central Spain. The courses available at Deusto Business School are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and are therefore internationally recognised.   

Bilbao is a city in Basque Country in northern Spain, famous for its beautiful natural landscapes, impressive architecture, and dining culture. It contains a lot of art installations, including the well-known 30ft spider outside of the world-famous Guggenheim Museum. Aside from the art galleries and museums, the city contains many restaurants, shops, bars, and restaurants. The city is located about 10 miles from the coast at the Bay of Biscay but contains two major rivers, Nervión and Ibaizabal, which form the Bilbao estuary and the active shipping port which supplies the city and much of northern Spain.   

San Sebastian is a coastal city which is also located in Basque Country in Northern Spain. It is well-known for its beautiful natural landscapes including beaches Playa de la Concha and Playa de la Zurriola, two locations that are particularly popular with tourists. The region is also well known for its gothic style architecture, restaurants, bars, and vineyards.

Available programs

With campuses in Bilbao and San Sebastián, along with a headquarters in Madrid, Deusto Business School offers a comprehensive range of degree, master's, doctorate, and executive education programmes. Currently, Deusto Business School offers 9 varieties of degree around business administration and management. 

Bachelor's in business management and administration- This programme is available at both Bilbao and San Sebastián campuses, and the programme duration is four years in total. Students have the option to pursue the degree entirely in English or in Spanish. Throughout the course, students acquire skills in project planning, execution, and comprehensive company management, equipping them for versatile roles across various sectors. Additionally, students have the option to enhance their studies by specialising in digital business intelligence, international management skills, or innovation and entrepreneurship.  

The Deusto business analytics programme - is a five-year course based in the San Sebastián campus, awards students a degree in business administration with a focus on digital business intelligence, along with a master's in business analytics and an associated degree. In addition to business administration, students acquire specific knowledge and tools for data analysis, contributing to data-based solutions for organizational success and growth. Students can pursue the degree entirely in English or in up to three languages (Spanish, Basque, English). Each year, they receive the chance to choose their preferred linguistic path. 

The Deusto finance programme – is a five-year course conducted in person at the Bilbao campus, offers students a global perspective on finances. It prepares them to address the challenges of the complex financial sector, positioning them as contributors to economic development. Students earn a degree in business administration with financial analyst basics and complete a master's in finance, coupled with a financial analyst certificate during the fifth year. This degree can be taken together with the bachelor's degree in BMA offered entirely in English or in Spanish or Basque. 

Apart from the mentioned programmes, Duesto Business School provides dual degrees, including, business administration + international relations at Bilbao campus / San Sebastian campus, business administration + law at Bilbao campus/ San Sebastian campus, business administration + computer engineering at San Sebastian campus and business administration + industrial technologies engineering at Bilbao campus.  

All Deusto Business School undergraduate programmes, including the above are accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and AMBA (Association of MBAs), international accreditations which recognises the programmes for their quality and excellence in business education.   

Deusto Business School offers a wide range of official master's degrees, own degrees postgraduate, a doctoral programme, an executive MBA. 

Master's in management - This programme is tailored for individuals with diverse backgrounds such as engineering, law, science, journalism, psychology, humanities, and more. Students will develop the ability to recognise interconnections across various organisational areas, enabling them to devise integrated solutions for companies. This programme, available in both Spanish and English, spans 1.5 years and is conducted at the San Sebastian campus. 

European & international business management master's degree - The Master's degree aims to equip students to drive and lead the advancement of business projects, particularly those with international or multicultural dimensions. The programme spans across three European cities (Bilbao, Nantes, and Bradford) and is conducted in the respective local languages (Spanish, French, and English). Students will receive language instruction and earn a joint degree from the University of Deusto, Audencia Business School, and the University of Bradford. The programme, lasting 1.5 years, encompasses full-time internships, preferably with organisations demonstrating an international focus or situated abroad. 

International business master’s degree - This one-year master's programme, based at the San Sebastian campus, focuses on the distinctive features of various international markets. Graduates will possess the skills to identify global business opportunities and formulate and execute international business strategies, considering crucial aspects of international management in each country.   The programme incorporates study trips to different countries, along with a full-time internship. Since the programme is conducted 100% in English, students must demonstrate a high level of English proficiency to gain admission by providing an equivalent qualification or by passing an internal test. If the undergraduate degree was completed entirely in English, no further language proficiency proof is required. 

Human resources master’s degree - This nine-month programme at Bilbao campus focuses on developing crucial human resource skills, including motivation, communication, emotional management, negotiation, and team building. Students will learn policies and practices for effective people management in organisations, emphasising talent development in alignment with the latest trends. The course allows students to combine internships with teaching sessions right from the start, spanning from October to June. Inexperienced candidates participating in the internship programme are required to demonstrate a B2 level of English proficiency, through certification, international mobility experiences, stays abroad, or an internal oral test. 

Account audit master’s degree - This one-year master's programme at Bilbao Campus is designed to prepare students for the ROAC exams accredited by the Institute of Accounting and Auditing (ICAC). Ideal for those aspiring to become account auditors, it provides comprehensive training, knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role. The programme includes a one-year duration, with a five-month full-time internship in audit firms. Additionally, students benefit from a mentoring process facilitated by the Basque Country Group of the ICJCE. 

Finance master’s degree - This one-year master's programme at Bilbao campus focuses on equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to provide advice and information on auxiliary investment products and services, aligning with the European MiFID II directive. Students benefit from access to the Bloomberg Room for real-time market analysis and global economic information.   The programme includes a 6-ECTS-credit internship, featuring a training trip to the international financial centre of London. Upon programme completion, students can earn a double degree, obtaining a MSc in Global Finance from the Gabelli School of Business (Fordham University) through a unique agreement. Some master's degree subjects are taught in English, requiring students to demonstrate an advanced level through qualifications or an internal test during the admission process. 

Executive MBA
- The Executive MBA (EMBA) at Deusto Business School equips students with the knowledge and tools necessary to ascend to high-responsibility roles. Participants will gain the expertise to lead sustainable business projects in a global and dynamic environment, contributing to the creation of a more prosperous, just, and inclusive world. This 18-month programme offers in-person options in Bilbao, San Sebastián, New York, or Paris, and a virtual option conducted exclusively in Spanish. In-person classes will take place biweekly on Fridays and Saturdays, and instruction will be delivered in both Spanish and English. 

All Deusto Business School postgraduate programmes, including the above are accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and AMBA (Association of MBAs), international accreditations which recognises the programmes for their quality and excellence in business education.  
Deusto Business School extends its offerings to include several summer programmes and a Ph.D. programme, delving deeply into factors influencing the competitiveness of both companies and territories. The programme emphasises innovation as a crucial element for competitiveness and sustainability as vital for the well-being of future generations. A strong focus on research methodology ensures participants receive a comprehensive and rigorous foundation. 

University information

Students can apply to University of Deusto Business School by creating an application page on the website, completing the application with the required documents, and paying the application fee of €30 EUR (around £26 GBP and $33 USD). Following this, students must complete the admissions test and wait for their notification of admission. Once they have been notified, they must accept their place online with their extranet login and arrange an enrolment appointment to complete the process.   

In terms of the documentation that students will need to apply, this will change slightly for undergraduate and postgraduate students. All students will need a photocopy of their identification documents, an academic transcript, an official certification of their language abilities in English and/ or Spanish depending on the course that they have enrolled onto accredited by the CEFR (Common European Framework Reference for Languages). The specific list of documents required for both graduate and undergraduate students is available on the website.   

The University of Deusto Business School offers the Vizcaína Aguirre Foundation Scholarship every year which offers funding to undergraduate students, often living abroad or outside of the Biscay region with a few exceptions. The scholarship funds 100% of academic tuition, accommodation at an official University of Deusto residence building and an annual stipend of €3,500 EUR to cover living expenses and school materials. Details of the scholarship and its requisites are available on the school website. Application for the scholarship opens every year in January and closes in March.    

Applicants must fill in the application form on the website, accompanied by their transcript from the last academic year, the tax returns of each person in their cohabiting family unit, a certificate of income for the cohabiting family unit, a certificate of residence a letter of introduction from their current school teacher or principle, a personal letter from the candidate outlining why they think they should receive the scholarship and a form of identification.

The Business school is one of the seven faculties that make up the University of Deusto. The other faculties include Health Sciences, Human and Social Sciences, Law, Education and Sport, Engineering and Theology. 

Some students will choose to study at the University of Deusto Business School via their online programmes. This means that they will be able to complete their learning in the way, time and place that best suits them. The online programmes adhere to the same learning model as the on-campus programmes with additional opportunities that are offered by the online environment. Flexibility is one example, along with a personal one-on-one relationship with their tutor and the ability to apply their knowledge to different cases and situations.

The Deusto Business School Internship and Career Services Department is dedicated to supporting bachelor's degree, dual bachelor's degree, and postgraduate students enrolled at DBS in San Sebastian and Bilbao. Its mission is to enhance students' career prospects and assist companies in finding top talent. The department provides a range of services, including: 
Offering a professional internship programme to help students gain valuable work experience. 

Conducting various training sessions, such as seminars and workshops, to enhance students' employability. 

Providing individual professional guidance to assist each student in defining and pursuing their career goals.
