Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology

Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi was set up in 1994. The university is sponsored by Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) and is named after the great educationist and social reformer Sir Syed Ahmed Khan (1817-1898). The University offered 28  undergraduate and postgraduate programs during the period August 2020 - July 2021, i.e., Bachelors, Masters and PhD programs, in the disciplines of Engineering, Technology, Computing Sciences, Architecture, Physical Sciences and Business Administration. During the last 27 years the university has produced more than twenty-two thousand (22,000) graduates. The graduates of Sir Syed University are very successfully set up in the national and international market.The purpose-built campus of Sir Syed University is in the heart of the largest city and industrial hub of Pakistan, i.e., Karachi. The university has ultramodern infrastructure which includes well equipped air-conditioned classrooms, laboratories, computing facilities, library etc. The university plans to add more disciplines gradually in response to the market needs. The University’s infrastructure is continuously being expanded. Central library and laboratories are upgraded with the latest books and state-of-the-art equipment. For future expansion and adding more disciplines, the University has acquired 200 acres of land in the Education City. The Education City is a project of Government of Sindh on the outskirts of Karachi.The quality of education is continually checked and assessed by the universities Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC). QEC also ensures that the quality of education meets the criteria set by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the relevant accreditation councils such as, PEC (Pakistan Engineering Council), NBEAC (National Business Education Accreditation Council), NCEAC (National Computing Education Accreditation Council) and PCATP. The university is also aware of its global responsibilities and is actively striving to achieve SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) consequently the university has taken part in the last two THE Impact Ranking.The university places great emphasis on research. ORIC (Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization) is progressing with the aim of enhancing and linking SSUET (Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology) research, innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities directly with the educational, social and economic priorities of the university and its broader community. The progress is reflected in a significant increase of research publications by the faculty members during the last two years.The university is recognized by HEC (Higher Education Commission) and the programs are accredited by relevant councils. The university was ranked 1st (private engineering university) by CIEC (Charter Inspection Evaluation Committee).
