Major employers (including Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Dell, Edward Jones, Wells Fargo, CISCO, DHS, NSA, US Army, US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Department of Defense, and Veterans Affairs) hire and promote our students and alumni.
The University of Fairfax was established in 2002 in response to the events of 9/11 and in support of the federal efforts to increase the nation’s cybersecurity by providing high quality, online doctoral, master’s and graduate certificate programs for adult learners. In contrast to other graduate institutions which offer information security/assurance only as a concentration as part of a degree program, the University of Fairfax has dedicated the entire institution to degree and certificate programs in pursuit of excellence in cybersecurity.
Accreditation & Approvals
The University of Fairfax is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). DEAC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency and is recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Additionally, University of Fairfax holds state authorizations or registrations in several states and is an approved SARA (State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement) institution. The University is also approved by SEVP and can enroll international students.
Location
The University of Fairfax main office is physically located in Salem, Virginia. Additionally, some courses can be completed in person at this location and in Louisville, Kentucky. However, all of our courses can be completed online from anywhere in the world. In-person requirements only apply to visa holders located within the USA.

• Doctorate of Information Assurance – As a doctoral student, you will explore relevant cybersecurity policy issues in enterprise management and you’ll complete a cybersecurity project in each course, enabling you to make immediate and lasting workplace contributions. 62 credit hours
• Doctorate of Business Administration – In this program, business professionals increase their breadth of knowledge, ability to research and analyze business alternatives more thoroughly, and opportunities for more challenging, responsible, and productive careers in the business community. 62 credit hours
• Doctorate of Software Development – Students will acquire an advanced understanding and expertise in big data, security, architecture, design, and programming expertise required by the software developers of the next generation. 62 credit hours
