National Ilan University

         National Ilan University (NIU) is a reputed educational institution in northeastern Taiwan. Started as Taiwan Provincial Ilan School of Agriculture and Forestry back in 1926, it is one of the oldest higher-education institutions in Taiwan. Since then, NIU has maintained its distinguished status in academic as well as researching, being one of the few universities in Taiwan with Top 1% Science Citation Index in the world (in the field of Electro-Scientific Industry), and stands in Top 3 Teaching Excellence National Universities in Taiwan.

         Within one hour's drive from Taipei, NIU’s main campus sits in the heart of Yilan City, where students enjoy convenient access to shopping malls, restaurants and other living facilities.

        Being one of the most prominent and outstanding bio resources education and research institute in Taiwan, NIU owns a 173-hectare experimental forest for forestry and ecological research, a 14.9-hectare ranch which focused on professional animal research, an experimental farm for horticultural practice, and another campus located close to Yilan Scientific Park under construction.

        Apart from those, NIU is home to two IEET-accredited colleges (Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science) and College of Humanities and Management for students pursuing Bachelor of Arts. The above constructs a comprehensive faculty with 4 colleges, 15 departments and 19 graduate institutes.

       NIU has a strong international collaboration with over 100 universities and research institutes worldwide. Students can apply for academic exchange programs with our partner universities, or take part in overseas volunteer activities and summer camps. If not, spending a whole student life in the main campus would be equally fine; for there are over forty clubs and associations, beautiful local landscapes and tourists' hotspots, multi-storied gym and library, all contributing to a fruitful Uni life.
