About Eikei University of Hiroshima

Eikei University of Hiroshima (EUH) was established by the Hiroshima prefectural government in April 2021. EUH is a new university with a Social System Design faculty that aims to nurture social innovators for positive change in society. The curriculum consists of two parts: "acquisition" of knowledge and skills, and "practices" through on/off-campus learning. In the "acquisition" part, liberal arts courses focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to develop students’ ability to discern the true nature of things amidst an ever-changing society. Students also learn ICT/Data science, design thinking, and systems thinking to develop digital literacy and critical thinking skills. In the "Practice" part, students work on Project-Based Learning, face real-world issues, and develop problem-solving skills in cooperation with about 110 organizations, including companies, local governments, and international organizations. They use their own knowledge and skills on issues for which there are no "right answers."

From the second year, students can choose to study three main pillars of study: namely Identity Design, Business Design, and Ecosystem Design, or study across these three areas. All classes are small, using active learning methods.

To realize a diversity-focused campus, EUH accepts 20 international students out of 100 students per academic year. International students can take courses in English to obtain the credits necessary for graduation with opportunities to learn the Japanese Language.

Since EUH is a public university, tuition is lower than that of private universities in Japan. Additionally, EUH offers generous scholarships to ensure that international students can study comfortably. The EUH campus building is equipped with a dormitory for international students, providing a safe and conducive atmosphere for academic pursuits.
