STIKES, or Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan, was the precursor to Universitas 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta (UNISA Yogyakarta). UNISA Yogyakarta provides 20 study programs and has three faculties. There are 222 permanent faculty members and 6,345 enrolled students for the 2022–2023 academic year. UNISA Yogyakarta's vision is "To become a leading health-oriented university based on the values of Islam Berkemajuan."
According to UNISA Yogyakarta's vision and mission, its goals are as follows:
1. To generate graduates who are obedient and committed to Allah SWT, have high moral standards, and possess knowledge and abilities with a focus on health. These graduates ought to be professional, enterprising, and active contributors to the welfare of the country.
2. To produce scientific works that can address and resolve societal issues from a health-oriented perspective.
3. To create original and useful works that, from a health-oriented standpoint, empower and enlighten people.
4. To develop workable models for women's empowerment grounded in Islam Berkemajuan values.
5. To strengthen moral and spiritual values in the application of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and to cultivate thought leadership in Islam Berkemajuan.
To achieve its vision by 2035, UNISA Yogyakarta outlines its development direction in a master plan spanning from 2016 to 2035, which is further detailed in the strategic plan for 2021-2025.
The main teaching language at UNISA Yogyakarta is Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian). The university offers an international study program, International Program on Nursing, in which the main language of teaching is English.
