The T.G. Shevchenko National University “Chernihiv Collegium” is a leading higher education institution that includes the Educational and Research Institute of History, Ethnology and Jurisprudence named after O.M. Lazarevsky; Educational and Research Institute of Psychology and Social Work; Educational and Research Institute of Vocational Education and Technology and the following faculties: Natural and Mathematical; Physical Education; Preschool, Primary Education and Arts; Philology. The university provides continuous multi-level training of highly qualified specialists, up to 5 000 people, for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in more than 52 educational programmes, which are implemented by 35 professors and more than 220 PhDs. Scientific, technical and innovative activities are an integral part of educational activities and are aimed at acquiring new scientific knowledge through research and development to ensure innovative development of society and training of innovative specialists. University scientists conduct research in various fields of humanities and natural sciences. They study the ecological state of the region, socio-political and historical processes, information and food technologies, a wide range of problems in psychology, pedagogy and social work, preschool and primary education, art, physical education and sports, and philology. The university's priority is to support the activities of the Council of Young Scientists and student scientific societies. The University improves the quality of the education system in accordance with international standards and, taking into account foreign experience, continues to expand the geography and areas of international cooperation by concluding cooperation agreements with foreign partners. The university has modern material and technical facilities: academic and sports buildings, student dormitories, communications, laboratories, computer labs, a library, and an editorial and publishing centre. The university is the founder and publisher of five scientific periodicals that publish the results of scientific research of the university community.
