Innovation Centre (GCIC), West Africa’s premier climate-focused business
incubator. GCIC supports entrepreneurs developing sustainable solutions in
energy, agriculture, waste management, and water purification. Since its
inception, GCIC has helped over 360 businesses avoid 3.1 million metric tons of
carbon emissions, create more than 32,000 jobs, and raise over $42 million in
capital. Its programs emphasize gender equity, with significant support for
women-led ventures, and bridge academic excellence with practical climate
resilience.
Ashesi’s commitment to excellence has earned it global recognition. In 2018, it
became one of the few African universities granted a Charter by its national
government, affirming its autonomy and academic integrity. In 2022, Ashesi
ranked among the top 300 universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education
Impact Rankings and currently holds the highest position in Ghana and stands among
the top 10 in Africa.
