You will engage in an intensive research journey, where you apply advanced research tools and investigative thinking to examine complex issues in the Islamic financial system. The curriculum supports deep analytical work across multidisciplinary areas including Shariah law, finance, economics and quantitative methods.
With flexible study modes, you may pursue this programme full-time (minimum 2 years, up to 6 years) or part-time (minimum 4 years, up to 7 years), depending on your personal and professional commitments.
Throughout the programme you will become equipped to:
- Develop and propose original theories and models in Islamic finance.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of key Islamic finance themes such as Shariah governance, Islamic banking and capital markets, and ethical finance practices.
- Use quantitative and qualitative tools to evaluate and improve current practices in the Islamic finance industry.
- Publish scholarly work, present at international forums and influence policy, industry and academia.
- Lead responsibly with an ethical mindset, entrepreneurial approach and commitment to lifelong learning in Islamic finance research.

Admission Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent (with high distinction) from a recognised institution of higher learning.
- Mathematics / Quantitative Proficiency.
- A minimum of 5 years of work experience in financial institutions.
- Submission of a research proposal (not exceeding 15 pages, double-spaced in Times New Roman size 12).
- Proposal & Thesis can be written in either English, Malay or Arabic Language
