Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau (UIN Suska Riau) emerged in 1970 as the Institut Agama Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Qasim Pekanbaru, representing a transformative vision to integrate Islamic scholarship with modern science and technology – a deliberate move to overcome traditional divisions. Officially recognized as a state university through Presidential Regulation Number 2/2005 in 2005, the university operates under the strategic support of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kementerian Agama), fostering collaboration and guiding its development. This pivotal change solidified UIN Suska Riau’s role as a key institution dedicated to advancing Islamic education and contributing significantly to national development, supported by a robust organizational framework established through Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation Number 8/2005.

UIN Suska Riau currently holds the prestigious ‘UNGGUL’ accreditation status from the National Accreditation Committee for Higher Education (BAN-PT), a recognition representing the highest level of achievement and a source of immense pride for our entire academic community. Certified by Certificate and SK Number 1940/SK/BAN-PT/Ak/PT/X/2024, valid from 2024 to 2029, this accreditation underscores our unwavering commitment to delivering a consistently high-quality education that surpasses National Higher Education Standards. This ‘Unggul’ – or ‘Excellent’ – classification reflects our dedication to innovative teaching and learning methodologies, impactful research, and meaningful community engagement, producing graduates who are not only globally competitive but also possess a robust Islamic character.

Currently, UIN Suska Riau operates with eight faculties, each dedicated to fostering deep and relevant academic pursuits aligned with contemporary demands. These faculties – Tarbiyah and Education, Syariah and Law, Ushuluddin, Da’wah and Communication Sciences, Science and Technology, Psychology, Economics and Social Sciences, and Agriculture and Animal Science – collaborate to cultivate a dynamic and solution-oriented academic environment. In addition to the faculties, UIN Suska Riau boasts a postgraduate program managing master’s and doctoral studies, offering opportunities for advanced research and scholarly pursuits.

As part of its dedication to quality and advancement, UIN Suska Riau maintains a diverse range of supportive institutions vital to its academic success. These include the Institute for Research and Community Service, the Quality Assurance Institute, and several technical units designed to effectively support academic and research activities. These units – encompassing the Library, Information and Data Technology Center, Language Development Center, Al-Jami’ah Center, and Business Development Center – each uniquely contribute to the university’s academic ecosystem.

Currently, UIN Suska Riau encompasses a total campus area of 84.15 hectares, divided between 3.65 hectares on Jl. K.H. Ahmad Dahlan and 80.50 hectares on our main campus, located at Km. 15 Jl. Soebrantas Simpangbaru Panam Pekanbaru. The campus area on Jl. H.R. Soebrantas was initially acquired in 1981/1982, spanning 60 hectares, and subsequently expanded to 80.50 hectares between 2003 and 2006. Construction of physical facilities on this land commenced in 1995/1996, and to date, we have successfully constructed buildings totaling 5,760 square meters, including 70 modern classrooms to support academic activities
