- Critically analyzing various historical sources, including complex and challenging texts from distant worlds, written in both ancient and modern languages with specific vocabularies.
- Mastering historical issues in their different dimensions and connections—politics, economy, religions, law, environment, territory, international relations, gender, social dynamics, and institutions—with particular attention to intercultural dialogue and a global investigative perspective.
- Independently organizing and conducting historical research activities and effectively communicating the results to the public.

Admission Requirements
Undergraduate diploma (or higher)
Entry requirements:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Geological Sciences, or Earth Sciences, or Environmental and Natural Sciences and Technologies. The BSc must be strictly Honours type with at least 3 years duration, information on country specific types of Degrees can be found in the partial list on this page. The suitability of Degrees different from Geological Sciences or Earth Sciences will be judged by an appointed Committee.
- At least 33 ECTS s or equivalent number of hours in courses related to Geological Sciences. A strong technical background is required and will be assessed through the documentation provided (degree certificate and transcript/diploma supplement). The background must concern the following subjects:
- Mathematics (matematica).
- Physics (fisica).
- Chemistry (chimica).
- Earth physics (fisica terrestre).
- Geomorphology (geomorfologia).
- Structural Geology (geologia strutturale).
- Stratigraphy & Sedimentology (stratigrafia e sedimentologia).
- Palaeontology (paleontologia).
- Mineralogy & Petrography (Mineralogia e Petrografia).
- Cartography (cartografia).
An appointed Committee will evaluate the suitability of the Bachelors’ Degree of the candidates for the access to this Master Degree and whether the courses and exams that they took meet the requested number of ECTS credits or the equivalent number of hours in courses related to Geological Sciences.
- Knowledge of the English language at B2 level or higher.
- Knowledge of the Italian Language at B2 level or higher (for candidates with non EU citizenship).
