University of Mary Washington

Based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the University of Mary Washington is a public liberal arts university. Home to a student body of just under 5,000 people, the university offers more than 60 academic majors across three colleges: Arts and Sciences; Business; and Education.

One-third of students at the University of Mary Washington take advantage of the university’s extensive study abroad opportunities. 121 study abroad programs are offered in total, across 56 countries. 

The university’s campus is primarily located on a steep hill named Marye’s Heights, which played an important, historic role in the 1862 Battle of Fredericksburg, a vicious, bloody and one-sided battle in the American Civil War. From campus, students can easily walk to the historic downtown area, which is home to shops and restaurants. There are also two other campus locations.
