Damietta University

Damietta University is an academic insititution that has been established as a branch of Mansoura University since 1977. Faculty of Education was the first to begin work in the academic year 1976-1977,then Faculty of science and Faculty of commerce in the academic year1985-1986, Faculty of Specific Education in 1990-1991, Faculty of Applied Arts in 2004-2005 and Faculties of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Physical Education in the academic year 2006-2007. In 2007, the presidential decree No. (276) was issued to set up a branch in Damietta. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Bassiouni Sweilem Vice President of Mansoura University for Academic and Student Affairs oversaw the affairs of the branch. In 2012, the Prime Minister issued the decree No.19 to establish Damietta University  as a seperate university in New Damietta City. 

In the academic year 2018-2019, the study started in three new faculties: Faculty of Law, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Archaeology. Three Faculties are located on one campus in the district of Alasar in the city of Damietta: Faculty of Applied Arts, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Agriculture. The other faculties are in different places in the city of New Damietta, including the Faculty of Science, Faculty of  Education , Faculty  of Commerce , Faculy of Specific Education and Faculty of Physical Education in addition to three faculties on the university new campus, including the faculty of Law, the Faculty of Engineering , Faculty of Archeology and Faculty of Nursing established in the academic year 2019-2020.

The Importance of the Location:

New Damietta City is characterized by its unique location on the international highway which links the governorates of Dakahlia , Kafr El-Sheikh, Albehera, Port Said and the Canal area. It is also characterized by its natural, industrial and tourism resources. It is rich in various historical events over the ages.It has many important monuments dating back to the Roman, Islamic and Coptic eras. It has a lot of archaeological hills, especially in the area of Lake Manzals and its banks and in the area west of the Nile. This reflects the important role played by Damietta University  due to its wide diversity in  economic and natural resources ,a matter that requires  preparation for distinguished professional and technical individuals.

Damietta University seeks, over the next five yeaqrs, to achieve a privileged position in education and scientific research and a pioneering role with regard to providing specialized professional and technical services for different community sectors.

Mission:

Damietta University, one of the Egyptian public universities, seeks to provide educational, research-based and community-based quality swerviuces and programs, governed by national standards, prepare a competitive and innovative graduate on the local and regional levels;and contribute to sustainable development of the community and ensure the consolidation of moral values and preservation of national identity.
