QS Virtual Events Win 'Evolution of Business' Award
By Craig OCallaghan
Updated October 16, 2020 Updated October 16, 2020QS has received an award from videoconferencing platform Zoom for 'Evolution in Business' - to recognize our efforts at switching our global student events to a virtual format since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
Since earlier this year, the QS World Grad School Tour, QS World MBA Tour, QS Connect Masters and other student events have had to switch to a virtual format. Using a combination of technology, we've been able to continue to connect students around the world with representatives from leading universities and business schools through these events, and help hundreds of students continue their academic journey.
This rapid evolution of our student events has now been recognized by Zoom as part of their annual 'Zoomtopia' series of awards.
In order to win the award, QS had to demonstrate how it had used Zoom to adapt its business to a new way of working remotely.
In May, QS ran its largest virtual event with 70 schools present and 750 students attending. As well as speaking to school representatives, students are also able to watch informative videos and read virtual brochures about different institutions. When they login to the event, students are able to find all their meeting links in one place, alongside a small briefing on what to expect and how to prepare. A screenshot of this student dashboard can be seen below.
Claire Whittingham, QS Managing Director of Digital & Events, said: "We run 350 student recruitment events each year, across 60 countries. Our events bring together more than 660 universities and business schools, to meet 63,000 hopeful and ambitious students.
"Then in March, the pandemic hit. Global lockdowns meant we had to change the way we create connections between students and their prospective universities.
"At QS, innovation is a core value. During the pandemic, Zoom helped us to deliver our events, so that we could connect students with pros. unis, give them hope and nurture the next generation of learners."
