Anhui University

Anhui University is located in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, a famous historical and cultural city known as the "ancient land of the Three Kingdoms, the hometown of Bao Zheng, the first prefecture of the Jianghuai region, and the strategic point of Wu and Chu." The university is one of the first batch of universities included in the national "Double First-Class" and "211 Project" construction, a university co-built by the People's Government of Anhui Province and the Ministry of Education, and a key comprehensive university under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province.

In 1928, Anhui University was founded in Anqing, which was then the provincial capital, pioneering modern higher education in Anhui and continuing the essence of the cultural tradition of respecting education along the Yangtze River and Huai River. After several relocations, it was moved to Hefei in 1956; and after several name changes, on September 16, 1958, Chairman Mao Zedong personally inscribed the name "Anhui University," which is celebrated as the university's founding day. As a university with a red revolutionary tradition, Anhui University has been shouldering the great responsibility of national rejuvenation for nearly a century, adhering to the educational ideal of "cultural prosperity and national prosperity," and upholding the school spirit of "sincerity, firmness, extensive learning, and dedication." It has cultivated more than 380,000 outstanding graduates for the Party and the country, making it the university with the largest number of graduates, the widest distribution, and the greatest influence in Anhui Province, and is known as the "pace-setter and leader" among provincial universities.
