Ankara Üniversitesi

Ankara University, founded in 1946, was the first institution of higher education established in the modern Republic of Türkiye. The university is located on a main campus near the centre of Ankara, the capital and the second largest cities in Türkiye. The university is a diverse and versatile institution, compromising 19 well-developed faculties, 14 graduate schools, 11 vocational schools, 1 state conservatory, 48 research and application centers, and 1 School of Foreign Languages, with approximately 4000 academic staff.

As a public university with more than 80,000 students, Ankara University offers a wide academic portfolio covering a broad range of scientific disciplines, including the social, medical, natural and applied sciences, as well as the arts and sports. It also offers associate, undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degree programmes. Distance and continuing education programs are also available.

Ankara University is part of the European Union’s Lifelong Learning/Erasmus Program, which allows students to study and undertake internships at universities across the Europe as part of student exchange initiatives. The university is also a member of international organizations such as the IAU, EUA and UNICA. Ankara University was designated as a “Research University” by the Council of Higher Education in 2017 and continues to hold this distinction.

The campuses provide a wide range of academic and recreational facilities, including on-campus accommodation for undergraduate students. Facilities include a sports centre, swimming pool and gymnasium, and a variety of student societies.
