Atyrau Oil and Gas University named after Safi Utebayev (AOGU) is a leading industrial university specializing in oil, gas, and energy engineering, serving as a bridge between academic education, industrial practice, and applied research. Established in 1959, the university offers accredited undergraduate, graduate, MBA, and PhD programs, validated by the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IQAA).

AOGU integrates professional internships and dual education models into its learning process, enabling students to acquire hands-on experience through university-based industrial sites or real company environments. A recently launched educational-industrial training ground, supported by NC KazMunayGas and Embamunaigas, includes installations for energy extraction and transportation, providing a cutting-edge platform for practice-oriented education.
