At the Barcelona School of Economics we look for excellence and talent. Key elements of a strong application are a high GPA, a sound statement of purpose and standout reference letters. Strong knowledge in Economics and good quantitative skills are also recommended.

Master
With one campus just steps from the Mediterranean Sea and the other in the middle of a beautiful mountain landscape, Barcelona School of Economics students and researchers have two unique environments for their academic activities.
Barcelona School of Economics study programs and research centers are located on two main campuses:
The BSE's Ciutadella Campus at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in central Barcelona is within walking distance of both the beach and the city's financial, cultural, and governmental centers.
The BSE's Bellaterra Campus at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is a self-contained location that offers students all of the services they need in their day-to-day lives. It is an easy half-hour train ride from the city center.

The objective of our rigorous nine-month Master’s programs is to prepare graduates for professional and academic careers that require intense analytical thinking and a flexible mindset.
Last cohort at a glance
Last cohort is made up of 295 students, from 59 countries, with an average age of 25 years. Most students have undergraduate degrees in Economics or Finance. Others come from Engineering, Mathematics, or other backgrounds.
Students from around the world
90% of students are from outside of Spain. These students bring an enriching mixture of professional backgrounds, cultural perspectives, and personal experiences to the classroom.
Work experience before the master program
We have 80% of students who graduate from their undergraduate degree to study for a master's. The remaining students have professional experience at consulting firms, international organizations, banks, research institutions, and government agencies.
Life in Barcelona
With seven universities and numerous research institutions, Barcelona offers one of Europe's most inspiring environments for students and academics to live and study.
This intellectually appealing atmosphere coupled with the BSE’s location on the campuses of two internationally ranked universities puts our students in the heart of a dynamic academic environment.
Cost of Living
Barcelona offers international students a high quality of life at a cost that compares favourably with many other major European cities. On average, BSE students should budget between €1,200 and €1,450 per month. Rent and utilities usually account for €600 to €1,000, public transport for €30 to €90, and health insurance for around €50, while food, books, personal care and leisure add a further €400 to €500.
Housing choices largely depend on where each program is taught. Students at the Ciutadella Campus, in the heart of Barcelona, typically rent a room in a shared flat or stay in one of the many student residences nearby, several of which partner with BSE. For programs based at the Bellaterra Campus (UAB), about 30 minutes from the city, students can live on campus at Vila Universitària, in well-connected towns such as Sant Cugat, Cerdanyola del Vallès or Sabadell, or in central Barcelona close to the train lines. Many incoming students also use rental agencies, and current students and alumni can help them find flatmates or take over leases through the BSE Facebook group and student-run WhatsApp groups.
As Master's programs run full time from September to July, we recommend arranging accommodation early. Non-EU students should allow at least two months for their student visa, which requires proof of enrollment and housing. After arriving, they will also need to register their address (padró) and obtain their NIE.

Applicants who receive an offer of admission to the BSE have demonstrated their potential to succeed in our rigorous, intensive Master’s programs. The most talented candidates also receive a financial offer that covers all or part of their tuition fees.
This merit-based funding comes from generous public and private sponsors as well as the BSE’s own resources.
Each year, we award an average of 800, 000€ in merit-based funding to Master's students. Around 36% of matriculated students have received full or partial funding for their studies.
Types of funding that may be offered to candidates include:
Waivers covering 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of tuition fees A limited number of fully-funded scholarships (100% of fees and some additional stipend, depending on the scholarship)
