Caraga State University (CSU) is a premier Level IV State University in the Caraga Region and one of only four in Mindanao, as recognized by the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Levelling. CSU’s ascent from Level II to Level IV status is a testament to its outstanding performance in research, linkages, and academic excellence. The university is committed to its mission of fostering globally competitive, socially engaged, and innovative individuals through transformative education and research.

CSU, an ISO 9001:2015 certified higher education institution has recently been awarded the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Level 2 Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management, highlighting its commitment to organizational excellence, quality management,  and continuous improvement. This prestigious recognition affirms CSU’s efforts in delivering quality education, effective governance, and strategic institutional development. Additionally, it has recently undergone Institutional Accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), reinforcing its reputation as a center for academic and research excellence.

CSU takes pride in being the only Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 3-Star Institution in the region. CSU has been rated through a ran ge of performance indicators, in seven categories: Teaching, Employability, Research, Internationalization, Facilities, Social Responsibility, Inclusiveness, Engineering, and Technology. CSU got 5 stars in the teaching and social responsibility categories, 4 stars in employability, and three and two stars in other categories, leaving room for the University to aspire for a more excellent performance.

The university continues to experience significant growth in student enrolment. As of the most recent academic year, CSU has over 15,000 students across its two campuses, with increasing demand in programs related to engineering, information technology, environmental sciences, and business management . The University operates across two campuses: the main campus in Butuan City and the satellite campus in Cabadbaran City. CSU Butuan City, the Main Campus, is strategically located just 20 minutes from Butuan Airport via the city’s diversion road.
