About Central Mindanao University

Central Mindanao University is a State University located in the heart of Mindanao Island, Province of Bukidnon, Philippines. It was transformed from a settlement farm school organized by the Americans. It started as the Mailag Industrial School founded in 1910.  It is one of the oldest premier universities in Southern Philippines. In 1918, the school was renamed, Bukidnon National Agricultural School (BNAS) and offered the last three grades of elementary agriculture curriculum. By June 19, 1965, Republic Act No. 4498 catapulted the institution into Central Mindanao University.

At present, the university has ten (10) colleges offering 33 undergraduate degree, 28 master’s degree and 11 doctorate degree programs. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognizes the University as the Center of Excellence (COE) for the four academic programs, namely: Agriculture, Biology, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine. Likewise, the Commission also recognizes the University as the Center of Development for Environmental Science, Mathematics, and Teacher Education Programs.

In 2017, CMU became the first Higher Education Institution in Mindanao awarded with Institutional Accreditation (Level II) by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc.  Currently, the university is now ISO 9001:2015 Certified and awarded by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) with 3-Star Rating.

To date, faculty and non-teaching staff are hand-in-hand in serving the students and stakeholders of the university.
