The History BA (Hons) degree is designed for students interested in modern and international history. Students will develop a strong understanding of major political, cultural, social and economic forces that have shaped the world, and will learn about a wide array of societies and cultures. The degree will provide knowledge in the tools and techniques of historical research, work with digital information, and engage in independent research projects of their own design. Students will benefit from the staff’s commitment to teaching and mentoring, as well as their research expertise in British, European, Asian, American, Russian, transnational and global history. Apart from that, this course will prepare students for a wide range of postgraduate study and career options in areas such as digital information, publishing, the cultural and creative industries, the museums and heritage sector, consultancy, and public policy. Through this degree, students will develop vital skills such as independent research, teamwork, critical thinking and analytical reasoning, leadership, time-management, and written and oral communication. The emphasis of this course lies in digital technology and digital information and encourages students to think about the role of technology in society, culture, politics and historical preservation.
