One of the constituent colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY), Hunter College has over 100 degree options available to students. Although it was initially established as a women-only college, it has accepted male students since 1946 and today has a total student body of nearly 23,000 students.
The college is organized into four schools: School of Arts and Sciences, School of Education, School of the Health Professions, and School of Social Work. Applications to study here are highly competitive, with approximately only a quarter of applicants being successful. Over half of the student population identify as belonging to an ethnic minority group and previous graduating classes have contained at least one representative from around 60 different countries.
