About Dr. M. G. R. Educational and Research Institute
Aiming to drive societal progress through educational excellence, the Tmt. Kannammal Educational Trust established the Thai Moogambigai Polytechnic College in 1985, followed by the founding of Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College in 1988 and the Thai Moogambigai Dental College in 1991. In 2003, these constituent units were officially granted Deemed-to-be-University status as the Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Today, the university holds Category-II Special Graded Autonomy Status from the UGC, positioning it among the top 52 higher education institutions in India empowered with this elite academic freedom. The institution is distinguished by an A+ grade from NAAC, alongside specialized program accreditations from NBA, ABET, and NABH. Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering & Technology, Nursing, Pharmacy,
