On-campus accommodation costs approximately US$1,800 per annum, while other expenses typically reach US$6,500 per year. Tuition fees are approximately US$18,000. The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) offers a number of postgraduate programmes, including research postgraduate (RPg) (namely Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programmes), professional doctorate (namely Doctor of Education (EdD) programme), and a variety of taught postgraduate (TPg) programmes. 

Research postgraduate, professional doctorate, and taught programmes

Students enrolled in PhD and MPhil programmes benefit from the combined expertise of a team of renowned mentors and rigorous training in research skills and methods. MPhil and PhD candidates are expected to publish their own research and actively participate in conferences and other academic activities locally and overseas.

Tuition fees and cost of living

Tuition fees for MPhil and PhD students are around US$5,400 a year, while taught master’s degrees will set you back US$16,150-64,100 for the whole programme. Tuition fee for Doctor of Education is around US$49,400 for the 72-cp programme. Student accommodation costs between US$2,150-$3,270 per academic year for research students. Explore fees here.

Postgraduate scholarships for international students

All full-time research students admitted to an MPhil or a PhD are eligible for EdUHK’s Research Postgraduate Studentships, which are awarded on the basis of academic merit. It is non-taxable and its value varies from year to year. In the 2023/24 academic year, for example, the monthly stipend is about US$2,300 for all MPhil and PhD students and roughly US$2,370 for post-candidacy PhD students.
